Sven Svantesson

Industriell kemist och metallurg

(f. 1897 i Malmö, d.1970 i Österskär)

Vetenskapliga studier – Thermodynamic

In 1928 I meditated:

Days have gone - days will come
swiftly flowing on.
Wish that we could linger some
ever and anon -

With the golden sunset
or the virgin dawn
in the cool of forest
on a vibrant tone

Just to grasp the meaning
of the smallest ting,
or the sense of teeming
tender words that sing.

I think this sort of reflects my having learnt a deep lesson from the unbalance of my early failures and successes - to go slow, abide at whiles in my quest for understanding, for the integrity of science and the social responsibility of technology.
Thus I have worked patiently to ward off and to prepare for the difficult times now in the offing, to wit: of the exhaustion of the words store of latnet available energy - and material- resources....
Brev från Sven till en vän den 17 maj 1968

(Note:

" ever and anon "= "tid efter annan".

To wit= nämligen

Offing= i antågande, under uppsegling

teeming tender words= överflöda med  kärleksfulla ord )
